Darryl Learie Lands in Ripley’s Believe It or Not with his “Eggsercise”

By: Alicia Weber

Darryl Learie reached the pinnacle of success when his world record for most one armed pushups on a raw egg was selected to be in The 2013 Hard Cover Annual “Ripley’s Believe It or Not – Download The Weird” 9th annual book on page 160. There’s stiff competition to get into this exclusive and sought after record book – there were 25,000 entries and only a small percent of them were selected to be in this book.

Darryl Learie is into eggsercise and he is originator and record holder for the one arm pushup on the raw egg!

This by no means is Darryl’s only world record – he currently holds over 100 world records between RecordSetter World Records and The Book of Alternative Records where he holds records in exercise, human body achievement, and weird science (and he has set over 330 world records!!). However, the one armed pushup on the raw egg inspires awe, creativity, interest, and a level of difficulty that sparks the imagination.

Robert H. Schuller says it is “the round pegs in the square holes” – the nonconformists that are the innovators, the movers and shakers that push the human race. Darryl Learie is one of them and his one armed pushup on the raw egg record signifies this meaning where he “pushes” to new levels what was thought possible.

Darryl Learie is also a member of the Official Pushup Hall of Fame and he feels tragedy makes triumph. If Darryl had been popular in high school and the star athlete in a sport like football or basketball, he would have become content and not have “pushed” himself to be who he is today.

Like Darryl, all members of Pushup Hall of Fame (i.e. Charles Servizio, Paddy Doyle, the late Charles Linster, Roy Berger, Robert Lewis Knecht, Mich Gooch, Giuseppe Cusano, Flavio Codarin, Shaun McDaniel, and myself Alicia Weber) are nonconformists that push the human race to further achievement and only nonconformists know it is not easy.

Darryl’s “tragedy to triumph” days were during high school where he developed the motivation to be tough and shoot for unconventional feats rather than conventional sports. These were the days that appeared to be a tragedy to him as he stuck out like sore thumb with no friends, no support, only bullying and other issues he had to overcome alone (click here or refer to video below to hear his story). During these high school days, Darryl was mature enough to know that tough times never last, but tough people do and trying times are just times preparing one for a triumph. He kept an upbeat personality and he didn’t get bitter only better…

The result of Darryl toughening out all the trying times is that he has become the World’s 3rd most prolific world record setter!

You better believe that Darryl wouldn’t change anything and he is thankful for the “tragedy” and he is eggstatic over the “eggsercise” triumph!

If you are a nonconformist, you go places no one else goes and you are mentally and physically stronger for it. Once you get through the times that test your nonconformity, you become a leader and you won’t want to turn back.

Darryl Learie’s entry into the world’s most sought after record book – Ripley’s Special Edition 2013 (Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Special Edition) is a testimony on believing in himself and following his road of nonconformity with eggsercise!

A BIG Congrats to Darryl!!

Here Darryl sets the World Record in the One Armed Pushup on the Raw Egg with 8 reps!

On April 5, 2012, Alicia reached the monumental mark of setting 100 World Records ALL in exercise events except for two of the world records, which are in most different sports by Elite Athlete including…

Most Sports Competed In at Elite Level with One World Championship Victory (16 Sports)

Most Sports Competed In on Elite Level in One Year (10 Sports)

Starting on February 21, 2008, Alicia set her first world record in most consecutive bar dips in 5 minutes, which she considers her toughest record, which also took the longest for her to break (she finally broke her 1st world record on the Eve of her 100th WR on April 4th, 2012).

Alicia is known for setting and re-setting her own world records. She was a lone Record Breaker in uncharted territory with Book of Alternative Records where she set 60 world records for women’s exercise events from 2008 -2011. In 2008, Alicia became the World’s First Woman to set endurance pull-up and chin-up world records (and then she kept re-setting ALL these records). She didn’t stop there, and in 2009 she set pushup world records, which eventually landed her in the Official Pushup Hall of Fame and the only woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012 where she gave special interview. Alicia keeps improving and expanding her physical fitness record base and in 2012 she got noticed and was selected to be one of 25 extreme athletes to reveal secrets on how to stay tough in tough exercises. Alicia stepped up her game in 2012 when she joined Recordsetter.com, where she is able to compete co-ed in unrestricted exercise categories. RecordSetter is world’s fastest growing world record book and competition is co-ed. Alicia has already broken a handful of men’s world records in strength and endurance at Record Setter.

Alicia says, “At RecordSetter I get out of my comfort zone and I have enjoyed the male opposition. I have entered their territories to test myself in exercise categories I wouldn’t normally do and I am becoming an even better overall athlete for having the opportunity for this kind of challenge. I am happy about the good sportsmanship, creativity, but toughness in exercise categories, and ability to grow as a serious record breaker. This is only possible at Recordsetter.com.”

Alicia's Exclusive Strength Feat Shows

One fan that has been following Alicia’s record setting, since the start exclaims, “Now, that Alicia is at RecordSetter.com it has been very exciting to watch her dueling the men in the disciplines they are more into like plyometrics and short raw strength records. Alicia has jumped in their arena to challenge them and has taken the records. Before RecordSetter.com we only saw Alicia setting records far above anyone’s endurance and then keep testing her limits by re-setting her own records, which was exciting. But now that she is at RecordSetter, we see all angles of Alicia’s competitiveness and it is most exciting!”

In total, Alicia holds world records in 65 different categories of exercises. Alicia set 100 physical fitness world records from February 21, 2008 – April 5, 2012 (and she has re-set some of her records as many as 5 times!).

Alicia is now exclusively setting world records with RecordSetter World Record Book. She has so far set an additional 40 world records there to bring her record count to 100 as of April 5, 2012.

RecordSetter World Record Book has contests and awards and recognizes Top Record Breakers. It is very fair as all records require full documentation (i.e. record videos, etc) that are made public for viewing and public can judge on records also. Some records that are very different or need additional verification may go into a review panel discussion where the record setter might be questioned and then the questions and answers go into “Weigh In” where the public and judges weigh in on the statements and the verification process is extended as Alicia experienced in her final 2 records rounding her 100 count, but this is just a plus in why RecordSetter plays fair.

Alicia says, “It means a lot more when people can go in and read the rules for a record and then watch the entire record video, rather than see a name and statistic in a book. In addition, anyone can go in and see the entire record progressions for a Current World Record. RecordSetter has the legitimate and true way to present, set, and keep records. Anyone who is a serious record setter would want to be at RecordSetter.com. Another plus is you will know if your record is approved in 1-3 business days on average.”

Since Alicia made the switch to RecordSetter on Jan 12, 2012, her world records have earned top accolades (her records selected out of over 13,000 for honorable mentions) include the following:

Alicia earned # 1 Most Popular World Record for Feb 2012. In addition her world record for Most Consecutive Knuckle Pushups on Concrete was voted one of the Most Legendary!

Alicia earned # 3 Most popular World Record for April 2012 with World Record for Most Swiss Ball Squats in 1 Minute. This record was also selected for Editor’s Pick.

Muscle Woman Breaks 3 Men’s Fitness World Records on Aerobic Capacity Wellness Day

By:  Weber Way to Wellness Reporter

CLERMONT, FL (Feb 21, 2012)—Alicia Weber set aside Feb 21 during National Heart Health Month for Aerobic Capacity Wellness Day where she attacked 3 men’s world records and the result:  3 New world records in Record Setter World Record Book.  The 3 records tested peak speed and they were all very different, but aerobic capacity wellness can be discussed with all of them.  Aerobic Capacity Wellness is a person’s peak capability for delivering oxygen to muscles and the amount of oxygen and speed of delivery determines how fast someone can exercise.  We will look at the element of aerobic capacity wellness in Alicia’s 3 new world records and compare peak speed and max heart rate achieved for these exercise world records.

First, testing peak speed, Alicia set the world record for Most Situps in One Minute.  Now, aerobic capacity refers to “with oxygen” and exercises with deep breathing and Alicia showed that not too much deep breathing was needed to set this world record as her heart rate only reached 120 bpm for the 55 situps in a minute.  Situps work smaller muscles and in particular back extensor muscle strength is mandatory more so than strong abs. If back extensor strength is weak, one can risk injury.  Hip flexors are invloved with situps as well as rectus abdominus m..  Due to smaller muscles working, even though peak speed was achieved, heart rate remains on the lower spectrum of aerobic capacity wellness.

World Record # 1 – Alicia 55 Situps a Minute

Second, Alicia set a world record for Most Consecutive One-Legged Jump Rope Jumps in 30 Seconds where Alicia once again reached peak speed with 85 one leg jumps.  Now, even though this exercise was only 30 seconds in length, Alicia’s heart rate reached 150 bpm.  One legged jump rope jumping is more aerobic, works larger muscles, requires coordination and balance, and therefore the heart rate will go UP.  This exercise is rated on the higher end of the aerobic capacity wellness spectrum.

World Record # 2 – Alicia 85 one-legged jumps jump rope 30 seconds

Third, Alicia set the world record for the Most Consecutive Clapping Pushups with Feet Off the Ground as she completed 54 reps in 50 seconds.  In this exercise, Alicia once again reached peak speed with the highest heart rate achieved for the day for an exercise at 170 bpm.  This exercise is the most aerobic and is rated on the highest end of the spectrum for aerobic capacity wellness.  These plyometric pushups produce fast, rapid, and powerful movements that ignite the cardiovascular and nervous systems.  This exercise has the most going on and has the highest force of muscular contractions due to rapid loading and contractions of muscles from the plyometric nature.

World Record # 3 – Alicia 54 Plyometric Clapping Pushups

We can now see the different exercises at peak speed and their aerobic capacity elements, but one must remember the REAL test in aerobic capacity is holding peak speed for a LONG Duration. Having a maximum effort expended for a duration as long as you can go at peak capability and executing  multi-dimensional exercises (plyometrics, large and small muscles group aerobics, aerobic strength, and neuromuscular movements) is the REAL test for high-end aerobic capacity wellness.  This is why Alicia’s “400 Rep Aerobic Capacity Wellness Challenge” world record set on Feb 19, 2012, would be on the highest end of the aerobic capacity wellness spectrum as Alicia had a heart rate of 180 bpm and higher and held it for 23 minutes and 57 seconds.

***Dr. Kenneth Cooper, M.D. made the term “aerobics” famous with his ground breaking book Aerobics published in 1968 and his testing of aerobic capacity wellness.  Dr. Cooper invented the 12 minute run and 1.5 mile run tests for aerobic capacity and he has been a life long advocate on aerobics. Regular weekly aerobics has been proven to increase life span and reduce risk of disease.

Alicia Weber – 24 World Records in 2010 & 10 Sports in 2009

By:  Weber Way to Wellness Reporter Click here to visit JD Productions.

CLERMONT, Florida—On the 8th day of the new year 2011, we ask fitness expert, Alicia Weber, how she feels as she looks back at her record 24 world records in strength, speed, & endurance she set in 2010.

Alicia replies, “I feel that I accomplished my goals for that year.  My adrenaline pumps and I prepare the best I can and I exceeded every goal.  I am a possibility thinker with an insatiable desire to strive for difficult tasks.  They were all very challenging and required a great amount of possibility thinking and focus in addition to physical fitness.”

What do you look forward to in 2011?  Alicia says, “I never totally know what to expect and goals change, but I always think BIG enough for God to fit into all my goals!  This will be a year that my success has significance for those in Lake County, Fl – I have some very exciting “fitness makeovers” and “fun fitness challenges” I will be hosting with awesome prizes.

Here is a Review of Alicia’s 24 World Records set in 2010.
(Scroll to bottom for her 10 Sports  Video where you can watch her set a World Record!! )

Feb 6-March 9, 2010-Alicia Weber started her 33 day “5 Areas of Physical Fitness Challenge” with a 30 minute pull up world record enroute to a new mind-blowing 1 hour pull up record where she blew away her old record by 161 reps for 721 reps.  The one hour event is very grueling because you need to find a pace and keep it the whole hour.  She kept a pace of 12 reps a minute.  Then, 21 days later she did another mind blowing endurance feat with 680 chin ups in an hour (145 reps over her former record)!  These 1 hour events are taxing on the muscles, but she is so well trained that in between these two endurance feats, she wasn’t recovering, but setting more records (one every 2 and ½ days)!  In between these feats, she set 6 world records ( 2 shorter duration chin up WRs, 2 single-leg speed jump rope WRs, a jump rope running WR, and a Ring Dip (L-feat) 1 minute WR)!!  Then, March 1-9, Alicia set 4 more world records in pushups as she increased the level of difficulty by adding medicine balls to pushups.

Alicia states, “This was the most grueling of my 2010 records because of the focus required for these records for the 33 day duration.  Near the end, I made the challenge harder when I started getting mentally fatigued by pushing myself in 3 types of medicine ball pushup world records, which is equally a mental challenge as it is a physical challenge.  It was a thrill of victory when I captured 11 world records and 2 rare strength feats in 33 days and set world records in all 5 areas of physical fitness!”

May 27, 2010-Alicia Weber focused solely on maximum strength world records within a 45-minute time frame and took the challenge of setting 6 world records in 45-minutes to try & tie the # Legendary Jesse Owens did in Track and Field with Maximum Speed and Long Jump World Records set May 25, 1935.  However, Alicia missed on one, which she later captured during “Weber World Record Week.”  All in All, Alicia set an incredible 5 world records within 45 minutes in 5 strength events on May 27, 2010 in this order (1.  37 pull ups in 1 minute, 2.  35 pull ups in a row, 3.  30 chin ups in a row, 4.  11 handstand pushups in 1 minute, & 5.  18 ring dips in 1 minute).  Click here to purchase this 45 Minute World Record on digital download.

June 11, 2010-Alicia Weber was feeling ABSolutely FABulous and felt it was time to blow away her current 30-minute sit-up world record.  She did just that in flying colors as she blew away her previous mark by nearly 200 reps!!  Her current world record is now 795 reps in 30-minutes (a sit-up every 2.26 seconds)!  Click here to learn correct sit-up form.

Sept 11-17, 2010-Alicia Weber set 5 world records during “Weber World Record Week”.  First, she combined running, coordination, and strength together as she went jump rope running around the track using a 1.5 lbs jump rope.  Alicia, a former National Champ Track runner states, “Jump Rope running is night and day to regular running.  It is WAY more difficult and strenuous and if there is any wind – forget it!  I picked to set these jump rope running records in September, since there is little to no wind.”  Next she finally captured the world record for the world’s most difficult type of dip – Ring L position dips.  Finally, she tested herself in endurance and captured the 3-minute Deep Squat World Record following then with re-setting her 10-minute one arm pushup world record.

Alicia Weber is featured on the World Record Holder’s Registry.  Alicia Weber is also in the world record book, “Believe the Unbelievable.”  Quite contrary to 2009, Alicia spent all 2010 setting world records and only competed in 1 sport.  In 2009, Alicia set only 8 world records, but she competed in 10 sports!
