Champion Senior Athletes Excel Under Top Orlando Coach

Coach Johnny DeltoidI wish I could say I coached these 2 phenomenal senior athletes that I am about to reveal, but my hat goes off to Top Orlando Coach – Alicia Weber. Weber has guided one athlete into lowering her 5k run time by 3 minutes in just 70 days!! In all my years of track coaching, I never got an athlete that much faster it such a short amount of time…and to top it off, this athlete is just coming off of a Leg Rehab! The other senior athlete is smoking the field in Dog Shows with her saluki Angel and they enter the Winner’s Circle of Elite Dog Shows as a team of one of the oldest dog show Owner/Handlers in Nation.
Let’s Hear it from these Top Senior Athletes!
Roxanne, a long time triathlete wished to try to run before her 1 yr anniversary of her leg rehabilitation. She stopped competing after the rehab and the itch to compete is back. She attacked a Florida 5k on December 17, 2011, unsure of the results and if she really could run the entire event.
Roxanne said, “At starting line, I was nervous and not sure what my body could do. I was shocked as I finished and ran the whole time! I pulled through with Alicia’s training in a time of 1:01:54.”
Roxann in Groveland, FL 5k in 2012!
Roxann dropping 3 minutes off her time in 70 days at Groveland, Fl 5kon Feb 25, 2012!
The Determined Roxann set bigger goals. On Feb 25, 2012, Roxann improved her time by nearly 3 minutes in her 1st race now after her 1 yr anniversary from a leg rehabilitation as she ran a Groveland, Fl 5k in 58:55.
Roxann said after that race, “The race seemed shorter and easier. I was a lot more confident and more at ease at the starting line and I remembered all the pointers Alicia gave me.”
Roxann is now looking ahead to her first triathlon season, since having a leg rehab and is excited about the prospects. I ask Alicia, the Top Orlando Coach, what her thoughts are about Roxann’s improvements.
Alicia said, “I support Roxann’s goals and I am positive about her continued success. I see her confidence, strength, and endurance constantly improving and it is a joy to work with her and get her to her goals and beyond!”
Alicia has also guided a top senior owner/handler in Dog Shows to top running performance with her winning show dog! These Dog Shows are about Dashing with the Hounds and being critiqued on everything from gracefulness in your run with your dog and overall appearance. Cherie and her dog Angel, have been in the Winner’s Circle.
Alicia trained Cherie in running to prepare her to win AKC Championship with her Saluki Angel. On December 16, 2011, at the Saluki Specialty Central Florida Kennel Club, Cherie and Angel earned The AKC Championship, which allows them to compete in the Special with other Champion dogs.
Cherie with her Winning Soluki - Angel!
Cherie with her Winning Saluki - Angel!
After winning this title Cherie exclaimed, “It was a very big goal and roar from the crowd when the judge pointed to Angel and I – It was a joy to know I did this in my Golden Years and with Alicia’s help I can continue showing with the highest level of competition.”
In Feb, 2012, Cherie and Angel competed in their first Special with other Champions where Angel won “Best of Opposite Sex” at Lakeland-Winter Haven Kennel Club. This was Angel’s first time competing with other champions!
Cherie exclaimed after this victory, “For her first time and how young she is – Angel is the youngest champion in that ring and winning. It will be a real challenge now competing in Best of Breed and trying to get into the Hound Group because the groups are so dominated by professional handlers. Owner/handlers like me are in a minority in the groups.”
I ask Alicia how she feels training a champion show dog owner/handler as this is Alicia’s first experience training one. Alicia replied, “Cherie is so fun to work with and she has a great attitude and I knew I had the abilities to get her on her winning way. I am ready for new challenges and I am enjoying this challenge of training an owner/handler.”
And in fact, Alicia is UP for some more challenges as she now prepares these 2 senior athletes to set their first world records! These 2 senior athletes will be participating in Worldwide World Record Day on April 18th, 2012, under Alicia’s tutelage as they attempt tough and inspiring records.
STAY TUNED…

Coach Johnny Deltoid Interviews Senior Runner (from Rehab to Winning Races)

By: Track Coach - Johnny Deltoid
By: Track Coach – Johnny Deltoid

Coach Johnny Deltoid is a die hard track fan, track coach, and runner of many years.  His wife of 7 years is also in love with running.  Together they eat, sleep, talk, drink, and run!  Coach Deltoid is fascinated by a senior that couldn’t run from an injury, but through the right rehab and determination he is now running and winning!!  Coach Deltoid interviews this successful senior runner!

1.) Coach Deltoid:  So you ran your first race in 10 years.  What rekindled your flame to race again?
1.) Senior Runner:  I got some new friends that do races and I thought I would jump in my new age group and see what happens.
2.) Coach Deltoid:  A year ago a big decision needed to be made to get a surgery or not get a surgery.  Tell us about that..
2.) Senior Runner:  I had a Grade 2 Rectus Femoris M. partial tear.  I chose NOT to get surgery.  I decided to work under the tutelage of Alica Weber, where I was given a series of exercises to expand my range of motion in my knee joint and undergo light low impact strengthening.  It was the best decision to make and I am back up and running!
3.) Coach Deltoid:  Could you imagine yourself in ’09 (when the injury took place) ever running again?
3.) Senior Runner:  No, it was questionable that I would even be able to run.
4.) Coach Deltoid:  Which exercises that Alicia gave you helped you most?
4.) Senior Runner:  Gliding Disc flexibility training definitely helped, but it was a combination of many exercises and using Skecher Shoes and using Ultra-Sound before exercise. The real test was being able to run, which I passed in Feb 2010 when I ran a 200m on grass in 50 seconds.
5.) Coach Deltoid:  Once you knew you could run again, what was your next challenge?
5.) Senior Runner:  I wanted to run a 400m on the track and I completed it in 1:40.  I just decided to jump into a 5k race for the first time “cold turkey”.  I ran the whole time and finished in 32:30 for 3rd place in my 60-65 age group.  So, I am running with the Big Turkeys now!  So the success spurred me on for the next race where I lowered my time to 29 minutes!  I hope to do one 5k race every month now!
Senior Runner: From Rehab not being able to run to Running and Winning
5.) Senior Runner: From Rehab not being able to run to Running and Winning

6.) Coach Deltoid:  What kinds of recommendations do you give for a person with Grade 2 Rectus Femoris M. partial tear or to one with a  similar knee problem?

6.) Senior Runner:  I would highly recommend getting a pair of Skecher Shoes.  If you are older with muscle imbalances and in need of ankle strengthening, they will help with all of it.  They will help with strengthening the ankles and ligaments in the knees in a way that you can’t get elsewhere.  You are sure-footed with them!  I run and train in my Skechers Men’s Shape Ups Lace-Up,Black,8.5 M
ReliaMed 1Mhz Portable Home Ultrasound Physical Therapist Massage Machine & FREE China Gel Sample is another MUST.  I used ultra-sound 2 x day for 15 mins each time for 6-months.  I always use it before exercise and then again after exercise.  You don’t know if it is working or not, but very suddenly it rebuilds the bone and tissues.

She took 2 inches off her waist, lost 6lbs, & gained a lifestyle change in just 14 days!

Jenni was the lone participant in the Inaugural 14 Day Fat Flush Fitness Rush where she took 2 inches off her waist and lost 6 lbs!!  She calls this 2-week program a life changer!

Congratulations Jenni!!

Now, let’s talk to Jenni about her 14-day journey with “Fat Flush Fitness Rush”.

Q.  Knowing that you have done Weight Watchers and other fat loss programs before, how does “Fat Flush Fitness Rush” compare?

Jenni answers,  “It doesn’t!  Fat Flush Fitness Rush is in a league all of its own!  It’s the hardest I worked in 2-weeks straight. I was capable of doing everything, but it is twice the intensity given that workouts are on the beach!  I get twice more out of the program though!”

Q.  Would you recommend this program?

Jenni answers, “Yes, absolutely – you have to already be living an active lifestyle though or you are kidding yourself. If you are already active, you will get that much more confidence!  If you aren’t already living an active lifestyle, you are setting yourself up for failure.  If you can’t hang with the BIG DOGS, stay on the porch!”

Jenni adds, “If you aren’t bringing your “A Game” don’t try!  Fat Flush Fitness Rush is NOT for the weak-minded.”

Q.  You were the lone participant for this inaugural program.  What was your motivation to do it?

Jenni answers,  “I trust Alicia with my workouts and nutrition plans and I know I will get success and lifestyle change with Alicia and I am ready to go!!”

Q.  What are some changes you made and do you think you will continue to improve after the 2-week period?

Jenni answers,
“For the 1st time in 20 years I went 2-weeks without Diet Soda.  I replaced my candy and sweets with fruit and yogurt and I am satisfying my sweet tooth that way!  I used to snack after dinner and that bad habit went out the window!  This 2-week program has improved my sleep patterns and my body wants to be on a schedule (no staying up late) and it carries over to increased endurance in my workouts.  I couldn’t manage 1 suicide run on Day 1.  By Day 13, I did 5 suicide runs in a row and with each one my times got faster!  I absolutely want to continue this healthy lifestyle and my taste buds and muscles want me to continue too!!”

Q.  Have you been able to adopt some new healthy habits?

Jenni answers, “ I call this Fat Flush Fitness Rush a “2-week Lifestyle Changer”.  In 2-weeks time I got the tools I needed to continue with a new healthy lifestyle.  There’s NO BAND AID SLAPPING – There’s NO QUICK FIX! ”

Jenni’s final words, “Fat Flush Fitness Rush is about real positive long-lasting change!”  Keep Your “A Game” ON follow Alicia on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/awinningwayFollow Alicia on Facebook

Physical Fitness Testing Makes a Difference

Just hitting the gym 3 times a week makes a person feel better, but the people that do that PLUS get tested in physical fitness get SO MUCH MORE out of fitness and LIFE!!

A top finisher in Alicia’s “2010 Toughest Fitness Challenge” said that the physical fitness testing is where she learned her strengths and weaknesses.  Going to the gym regularly, she never knew where she stood head to toe.  Now, she knows where she stands and is better because of her fitness challenge!

Alicia “World Record” Weber says, ”All walks of life can benefit from a fitness challenge no matter if you are behind the desk working all day or in the military.  However, if you are in the military or police, I feel you should do a fitness challenge yearly to stay on top of your game.”

Clyde works at the computer by day, but is there for his workouts at night.  He won 2 fitness challenges with Alicia so far.  He knows he will stretch himself and it is fun to see how far you can go under Alicia’s tutelage.

Alicia says, “Although people may hear ‘physical fitness testing’ and feel their stomachs churn and want to avoid the topic, my ‘tests’ are not regimented and mundane.  They can actually be pretty fun.”

Clyde just competed and won a “Lungfish Challenge” which consisted of an aquatic long jump, water intervals, and others.  Once one challenge is done, he is ready for another!

Alicia gives Clyde a Pop Quiz for Spiderman Pushups and challenges him to 24 reps (his current best is 14 reps)!  He is preparing for Alicia’s January 2011 Fitness Challenge!

Clyde comments on his physical fitness excitement, “I love the adrenaline rush, goal setting, and competition. It is an individual competition to test myself and I trust Alicia to sculpt my body and be able to do things I can’t imagine doing.  Alicia is an ‘exercise artist’ with each exercise and workout preparing one for a bigger goal and achievement.”

A retired S.W.A.T police sniper believes yearly physical fitness testing is a MUST.  He trains under Alicia and recently won a competitive shooting competition. He has been challenged in a 3-min Aerobic Step Test and ab endurance challenges and he hopes to take part in Alicia’s next fitness challenge.  He believes being retired is about traveling and being able to climb the Great Wall of China or a mountain in France, if you wish.  You don’t want to come into retirement over-worked, bedridden, and unable to enjoy life because you left your physical fitness to the dogs!

The retired S.W.AT police sniper says, “When you are out of shape as a police officer you are not only letting yourself down, but your partner.  Physical fitness has been shown to improve shooting, fighting, and the ability to handle stress.  Alicia’s workouts and fitness challenges are about all-around physical fitness and well being. She tailors the workouts to individual’s needs from beginner to advanced.”

Are You up for a Fitness Challenge in Central Florida? Personal Trainer has Fun & Challenging Fitness Programs in Orlando Florida

By:  Weber Way to Wellness Reporter

CLERMONT, FLORIDA— Alicia’s Fitness Challenge concluded in flying colors as the top three finishers received tie-dyed shirts, improved fitness in all 5 areas of physical fitness, and much more!!  Throughout Central Florida businesses and individuals alike could register for free and do Alicia’s 12-week fitness challenge, while they were on a personal training program.

Alicia Weber is a fitness trainer of 12-years that is described as energetic, enthusiastic, and full of surprises! Alicia challenged fitness enthusiasts with a 12-week fitness challenge that consisted of 28 exercises worth 5 to 50 points and the exercises increased in difficulty every week as the point value increased.

Some believed the fitness challenge couldn’t be that challenging and they signed up only to drop out during the first week.  Others thought they would never be able to complete the difficult exercises in the later weeks of the challenge.

One female retired Law Enforcement Officer stayed optimistic and said, “If I am training with Alicia Weber anything is possible.  I know Alicia well because I trained with her longer than any of the other participants and I keep working and improving fitness with Alicia. I want to stay in shape during retirement!”  The challenge requires a mental toughness and this retired Law Enforcement Officer proved she not only had mental toughness, but the physical fitness to win this challenge!

Twelve began the challenge and only 4 finished the challenge.  All of the men dropped out.  Men and women competed in the same exercises with the same point values.

Alicia describes her challenge by saying, “I don’t expect people to get a perfect score.  They will get great successes and they will have to handle failures too.  Everything in this challenge is out of reach, but I will train them to put things in reach as they put out some effort.  They all train only 1 hour a week with me and then they are given some ‘exercise homework’ to complete.  This challenge will test their mental toughness and at the same time improve one in all 5 areas of physical fitness (cardio, muscular strength/endurance, flexibility, abdominal strength/endurance, and balance/coordination).”

Retired Law Enforcement Officer Wins Fitness Challenge!

The retired Law Enforcement Officer pictured here won with an incredible 85% cumulative score and a perfect score in abdominal strength and endurance.  The total possible points one could earn is 685 points.  All the women performed 10 men’s pushups in a row by the 5th week.   The women and men strived to perform 24 consecutive spiderman pushups to earn 50pts by the 12th week.  No one met that goal, but several women got partial credit for doing 4 spiderman pushups in a row.  The winner tackled the hardest exercises with class and blew away Alicia’s standards on a few of them including the 3 Minute Ab Curl Up (she did 150 reps in 2 and half minutes and she only needed to do 105 reps to get 50 pts).  Since she was past the mark of 105 reps to earn her 50pts, she stopped at 150 reps and saved her energies to attack other exercises.

Retired Law Enforcement Officer Wins Fitness Challenge

The winner comments on her fitness challenge win and the benefits she achieved by saying, “If I listened to Alicia, concentrated on what Alicia was teaching me, and followed her techniques, then the possibility to improve in 12-weeks was there.  When I put the effort out, the improvements came naturally.  I was surprised at what I did.”

Alicia commends all those that completed her fitness challenge, which has been her toughest.  All four finishers received awards.  Additionally, the top 3 finishers received a special tie-dyed shirt and they won a free copy of Alicia’s new book on physical fitness, which is now available as an ebook at AliciaWeber.com/fit!

Alicia Weber’s 2009-2010 Sports Highlights

In addition to the sports highlights below, I am a strength and endurance world record holder with a variety of physical fitness world records.

January 31, 2010 Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing World Championships

Alicia Weber- Silver Medalist 500m, Indoor Rowing Southern Championships

In my newest sport, I competed in my first major indoor rowing competition and captured the silver medal in the 500m sprint. The Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Championships serves as a World Qualifier for the C.R.A.S.H. B Sprints Indoor Rowing World Championship held every year in Boston.

December 6, 2009 Xterra World Half-Marathon Championships Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, HI

During a week in Oahu, HI, which included an invitation to train with the U.S. Marines, I competed in what is to be considered the “World’s Toughest Half-Marathon”. There are many factors, which make the event so tough including 1. Elevation – 2,900ft mountain climb 2. Competitors aren’t allowed to see or practice on the course till the morning of the event! 3. Temperature and Terrain Changes – The temperature at the start of the race was 65 degrees, but by the first mile on the black lava rock it escalated to nearly 90 degrees. By mile 11, runners held onto a rope to run down a slippery, muddy, narrow path. I can surely say with my many years of running on the elite circuit that this truly was the world’s toughest half-marathon! I became very dehydrated, but still finished as 40th Woman in the World. A total of 393 runners were in this world championship run.

November 8, 2009 First Annual SUP Poker Run Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Alicia Weber - 1st time on Stand Up Paddle Board

In an event that is about winning a game of poker as SUP paddlers chased to each boat grabbing a card, I was the 2nd fastest female finisher. However, I didn’t win the poker game. It was my first time on a stand up paddle board and my first SUP race. SUP is the fastest growing sport in Florida!

June 13 -14, 2009  Sprint Kayak and Open Swimming Championships

Alicia Weber - Gold Medalist 500m, 2009 Florida State Games

I did back-to-back Championships in 2 different sports that use the same muscle groups and I had great success! On June 13th I took the gold medal in the 500m K-1 sprint kayak race at the Florida State Games and then I captured the silver medal in the 200m K-1 sprint kayak race. The following day, I finished 14th overall out of the men and women in the Master’s Swimming 1-mile Open Water Championships in Ft. Myers, Florida.
