By Weber Way to Wellness Reporter Anyone who knows Alicia Weber really well knows her famous line – “It’s just training.” It is her relentless training or constant conditioning, which allows her to keep setting new standards in physical fitness. Training is not everything though, the right fuel is imperative. Alicia knew the best way to be successful at setting one of her hardest world records to set and re-set would be getting a Greek Salad and Wild Salmon at VIDA 365(before attempting this challenge).
The energy from healthy foods kicked in and KA BOOM!! Alicia pushed out an intense bout of the Incredibly challenging Aerobic Capacity Wellness Test (she invented after 9 years of study) and set a new benchmark. She was able to shave 3 seconds off the previous record and re-set this record for the 4th time on January 14, 2018. She can also call this her first record of 2018!!

Last Records of 2017:
2017 YEAR IN REVIEW: Alicia competed in 11 races in 2017(4 sports). She won 4 events and placed 26th in World in her 6th World Championship (Indoor Rowing Sprints World Championship). Alicia set the most world records ever in 2017 and they have not all been tabulated yet…but she set at least 250 world records all in physical fitness. She has been recognized as the World’s Most Prolific Female Record Setter, since 2012. Alicia also turned PRO in record breaking at RecordSetter in May 2017.
CLERMONT, FL—-On November 20, 2016, Alicia Weber, an advocate for soft surface running, dreamed of achieving her 113th victory in the Clermont Clay Trail 5k and her dream came true. On a sunny, 50 degree morning, Weber faced 241 great competitors who shared the same mindset of “soft surface running is the way to go” and she finished as the first woman on the hilly, sandy, bumpy course on Schofield Road on the Clermont Clay Trail (and 4th overall) in 21:50.
It was an out and back 1.55 mile course (10:46 out and 11:04 back for 21:50). She was shooting for low 10’s at the half-way mark, but with the many bumps and thick sand, she knew it would take longer. The challenging terrain and extra strength and balance required draws Alicia to events on sand, dirt, and off-terrain. The races do not focus so much on the time, but rather the fitness required to go as fast possible on the courses. The thicker the sand, the longer the ground contact time, and the double the effort for a workout = greater the challenge and more health benefits. Due to the soft surface, your legs feel really great when you are done. Soft surface running is the healthy choice for running, which brings you closer to nature.
The Clermont Clay Trail Race drew a total of 658 competitors (242 in the 5k and 416 in the 15k). This is tremendous participation, which is greater than in many road races. Many other runners agree that soft surface running is the way to go for longevity as a runner and athlete. The races bring awareness to clay trails and raise funds to restore and build more clay trails in the area.

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is Alicia’s 11th competition for 2016 and her final race of the season. She competed in 4 sports. She competed in one world championship (23rd in world), two world qualifiers (both first place), one national championship (2nd place), regional championships (1st and 2nd place), and four local Florida events. She competed in cross country running, beach running, paddle boarding, and indoor rowing this year. She also took up learning the new sport of footgolf, but she has not competed yet.
Meredith Yaun is a PGA professional golf coach who has been coaching kids and adults in Clermont for 23 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the city of Clermont and she provides her students unique opportunities. She can be reached for lessons at 407-341-1793.
Meet Meredith Yaun, Clermont, Florida’s Premiere PGA Pro Golf Coach
She offers group lessons to all levels of golfers on Saturdays and she offers private lessons. She guides high school golfers to scholarships and she provides golf/fishing summer camps for kids. Her lessons are one hour and they are packed with education and motivation. She explains and demonstrates golf techniques. She creates games for students, but she also steps in and challenges students in golf skill development games.
“Good aim and good speed are key in golf,†said Yaun.
Marianne Jones, 8, has been training in golf for a year under Yaun. Currently, she is working on her putting. She hopes to one day compete. She practiced putting on an upgrade and downgrade to decide how best to aim and how to swing to create the best speed to get the ball in the hole.
“You have to think in golf. In soccer and other sports you just run around,†said Jones who has been playing soccer five years and plays for Florida Rush on the Lady Lions team.
Yaun encourages students of different sport backgrounds to take up golf. She is a strong advocate of well-rounded fitness and she prepares golfers for all conditions.
“In golf there is a lot of skill to master. You have to learn to aim. You have to think about hills, wind, rain, and how you will swing and hit the ball for the different conditions,†mentioned Jones who thinks highly of Yaun and is confident of Yaun’s teaching methods as Yaun is a very successful Lady Pro Golfer.
The local youth age 6-14 can train and then compete in the US kids Disney Tournament and try to make it to the World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Yaun trains young students, adults, and seniors alike at the Clerbrook Golf Club and other golf clubs in Clermont, Florida.
Yaun’s son, Jonathan, finished 32nd at the World Championship when he was thirteen and he took 12th place in the 2015 Florida 3A Golf State Championships as he aspires to one day be on the PGA Tour. Meredith Yaun was a Lady Pro golfer who competed for 10 years on the European Tour from 1983-1993. She was based in England 6-10 months out of the year. Her most memorable competition was when she played on a team with three amateurs in a Corporate Golf Day Tournament (3 amateurs and one lady pro comprised the teams).
Her teammates were the CEO of British Rail (a golfer who had one arm and golfed with it), CEO of Themes TV, and the CEO of London Evening Standard newspaper. They played 18 holes and her team won. She was inspired to see how well the man played with only one arm. This motivated her to be prepared for anything and be ready to train anyone including disabled golfers. Meredith Yaun went on to invent different golf strokes like the “one arm bandit” to help disabled golfers excell and give all golfers a challenge!
Senior golfers under Yaun’s tutelage have a second wind as they have all become highly motivated and competitive.
“I am amazed at how quickly Meredith can get me back to where I was before my hand surgery,” exclaimed Freddie at his second session with Meredith after a three month sabbatical from golf after his surgery.
“I play 2-5 times a week on golf courses in Clermont and Orlando and Clerbrook is the most challenging and exciting course. Come to Clerbrook to become a great golfer. I have had several golf lessons with other instructors and Meredith is by far the most understanding and best instructor I have ever had. The flexibility gains and health benefits from golf combined with the improvements made from Meredith’s help are very self-motivating and make me more competitive,” mentioned Steve, a dedicated and very competitive senior golfer.
Clerbrook offers group and private lessons with Meredith Yaun. The club is also open to the public and they offer a men’s league and women’s league for those who want to compete and make friends.
“I highly recommend anyone, male or female, to take golf from Meredith. She takes what you have naturally and enhances it and she is always positive. Your scores will improve,” agreed Clo Ann (who went from a 36 handicap to 26 handicap) and Shiela (who went from a 32 handicap down to a 20).
ATTENTION Clermont runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes – Golf is a great sport to learn to enhance flexibility and stretch tight muscles.
“I took my first-ever swings at golf under Meredith Yaun’s instruction and I saw success immediately. I could feel the increase in my flexibility and the mental components of golf. Research has shown that golf improves flexibility in endurance athletes and it is a suggested sports specific training activity for endurance athletes to keep them limber and agile as they get older,” said Alicia Weber who was very impressed with Meredith’s coaching methods. Weber could see where training under Meredith and achieving success could become addictive and create a lot of golfers in Clermont.

All coaches look for similar characteristics in athletes across all sports in choosing who makes the varsity team. Individual sports like track and field and swimming as well as team sports like basketball and soccer look for specific qualities, but two characteristics that standout the most in the eyes of coaches are work ethics and confidence. You can make a varsity team in elementary, middle, or high school or college and today we will learn how to do so.
Every competitive athlete should strive to make the varsity team for the opportunity to compete with the best and reach your highest potential.
The fact is not every athlete who tries out for the team will make the varsity team right away. Only so many athletes can make the first string team, but every player is capable of becoming a star with the right attitude.
Tip 1: Practice regularly and talk to your coach on ways you can improve. Top players advise younger players to play on club teams on their off season to develop competitive instincts.
Once a very self-confident, sophomore from Laney High School, Michael Jordan, failed to make the varsity basketball team. Instead, he ignited a fierce competitive fire and took on the challenge to get better as he became a star on the junior varsity team. The following year, he grew to six feet and three inches. He made the varsity team as he averaged 27 points a game and established himself as a top player and major college prospect. He went on to become one of the greatest basketball players.
Tip 2: Be confident and show your skills and be able to play well under pressure and with an audience.
It is imperative to control anxieties. Varsity athletes need to be ready and attentive at all times and let it be known that you want to be there. Smiling and being overly zealous is a plus as coaches will get to learn of your strong desires to want to play on a varsity team.
Tip 3: Stay focused, listen, and consistently do what you do best.
Coaches look for players with certain abilities and they want those players to stick with those abilities. They want the athletes to focus on their strengths and keep getting them stronger. They want athletes who can follow directions and are willing to become the best they can be. If an athlete can’t follow directions, a coach is not going to want the athlete on a varsity team.
Tip 4: Show the coach you have passion for the sport and that you want to be part of a team.
Coaches look for athletes who can be great team players and leaders. The number one quality a coach loves is a great work ethic. A coach would prefer a dedicated athlete with great work ethics over a naturally talented athlete with no work ethics.
Orlando’s Downy Christian High School has a girls’ varsity basketball team where a 10 year old, Jaden Newman, is the star. She is known to have a tremendous work ethic, which is built from within. She is short and fast. According to Maxpreps, she averaged 30.5 points a game this past season. She gives NBA players a run for their money as she hopes to one day become the first woman to play for the NBA.
Newman is an example of a passionate and very focused athlete.
Different ages and genders can make a varsity team if they prove they can perform. Most coaches want athletes to take risks and try a sport that they may never have competed in before. They believe that as long as you can perform and excel, then you can play varsity.
Erin DiMeglio became the first female to play quarterback on a varsity football team in a Florida high school. She showed up for the tryout confident about her skills and ready to perform with the males. She proved herself and the rest is history.
Tip 5: Be respectful to the coach, teammates, and others, demonstrate good communication, and be presentable in proper attire.
On high-level play, such as division 1 NCAA athletics, it becomes mandatory that a coach becomes in tune with the varsity athletes as the way the coach communicates influences the psychology of the athletic performance. Both the athlete and coach have to make a committed effort to communicate positively and clearly for an athlete’s ultimate success.

Jack LaLanne always said, “Fitness is King and Nutrition is Queen.” Alicia Weber will add, “When they don’t rule, expect a nation of downfall.”
On the contrary, Japan proves to be a nation where Fitness is King and Nutrition is Queen and they are a nation that reigns as the healthiest in the world. The 2011 Nation Master Statistics show Japan is the least obese nation, nation with least heart disease (as well as nation with least cancer and circulatory diseases), and they are #5 nation for longest life expectancy!
Japan is a country where reaching over 100 years old is common place (especially in Okinawa). Japan is a country where the people believe in taking care of themselves and that is their lifestyle. They are the largest consumers of fish in the world and of whole soy, seaweed, and green tea. They monitor serving sizes and they stop eating before they are full. They also eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Japan believes in aiming for a low stress life with daily exercises and some of their favorites include Aikido, Tabata Method, and Japanese Yoga.
Many Americans would rather not exercise and not eat right and just let the doctor take care of them. Well, that is not a smart choice as according to Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. ranks last among seven countries for effective healthcare. You will pay a lot of money and not get the results.
Dr. Chauncey Crandall, a renowned interventional cardiologist says, “YOU save yourself! Heart disease is unnecessary and what causes heart disease causes other degenerative diseases.”
It is proven that a diet high in anti-inflammatory foods along with regular daily exercise is your best weapon against disease and having a long, happy, healthy life. So why not do what is right to have a long, happy, healthy life? Do you lack motivation and direction? If so, you have come to the right place. This is home to Alicia “The Machine” Weber – holder of over 100 official exercise world records. Alicia says, “I am an American, but certainly not American in the way I eat and exercise. I do not eat fast food. I rarely drink soft drinks, only ginger ale on occasion. I am REALLY W-I-L-D about exercise and because I exercise so much, I can not eat foods that aren’t healthy or else I will become sick. Due to the intensity of my exercising, my body is only inviting of alkaline foods. There is NO such thing as splurging or eating bad as a reward for hard workouts.”
Alicia had 3 major big, long stamina goals for 2012 and she achieved ALL of them. 1.) She set the world record for the most total body exercise records in 7 days in a row (2 of the exercises had to be 1 hour in duration). 2.) She then set the world record for fastest time to set 50 total body exercise records. 3.) Finally, she set the world record for the fastest time to set 100 total body exercise world records (where at least 3 records had to be at least 1 hour in duration).
I ask Alicia if she should feel tired and Alicia answered, “No, I am not tired. The more I do the more energized I become and I couple all my physical efforts with healthy eating, so both together are a very empowering combo for my body.”
Alicia would like to empower YOU to a NEW YOU as she does this over and over with her own body and current trainees. Alicia will work with YOU on YOUR goals and maximize your potential. The following are the videos documenting her 3 official long stamina records.
Official RecordSetter World Record where Alicia set 22 exercise records in 7 days in a row (upto 1hr duration covering upper body, lower body, and core exercises for records) on August 10-16, 2012.
“You have to take care of your 640 muscles, and the number one thing is exercise. You can eat perfectly but if you don’t exercise, you cannot get by.” – Jack Lalanne
“You should do it against the clock. Say you are going to do 30 laps in 15 minutes. Then you try to do it each day a little faster. That is putting demands on the body, and that is how you build up. You keep up your energy instead of going downhill.” – Jack Lalanne
Official Recordsetter World Record where Alicia completes 100 exercise records the fastest covering upper body, lower body, and core exercises AND for each of the 3 areas, at least one record of 1hr duration must be set. It took 107 days from May 17, 2012 – August 31, 2012.
“How do you build up your bank account? By putting something in it everyday.Your health account is no different. What I do today, I am wearing tomorrow. If I put inferior foods in my body today, I’m going to be inferior tomorrow, it’s that simple.” – Jack Lalanne

A plant-based diet is your winning way to wellness! Â Human blood is alkaline with a 7.2 pH. Â When it comes to your blood and food consumption, one thing is true and that is two of a feather flock together! Â Just as your blood has alkaline pH your body wants an alkaline pH in the food it consumes!
More Alkaline = Less Inflammation (foods that are alkaline and fight inflammation are fruits, vegetables, and fish)
ALL fruits and vegetables are anti-inflammatories. Â Some are considered more potent than others though. Â Vitamins and minerals are important to fight inflammation as the one I highly recommend that is an excellent anti-inflammatory as well as an anti-aging supplement is Triveratrol Plus containing ResVinol-25 (60 Softgels). Â This is a top supplement from a top-notch doctor – Dr. Whitaker. The reason this supplement is a very potent anti-inflammatory is due to its 3 Key Ingredients:
1. Â Tumeric (known for anti-inflammatory qualities)
2. Â Aloe Vera (plant known as fountain of youth for healing qualities)
3. Â Resveratrol (dosage in vitamin equivalent to 170 glasses of red wine!)
Of all the plant-based foods, the Indian Goose Berry takes the 1st place prize in being the most potent! Â As it exceeds the anti-inflammatory potency of the 2nd and 3rd place blueberries and pomegranates for anti-inflammatory benefits. Â However, no need to focus on the 3 in the winner’s circle as the goal should be to eat a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables everyday for your anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory responses to be in top form and out do the inflammation and aging process!
*On a side note: If you are not eating a lot of meats (i.e. red meats as they have the essential vitamin B 12), then you need a vitamin with B 12. Â Vitamin B 12 is essential in red blood cell production and must be part of the diet and if not getting it in a food source, then vitamin is neccessary. I stay stocked up with Emergen-C Vitamin C Fizzy Drink Mix, 1000 mg, Tropical, 0.3-Ounce Packets (Pack of 30) and I take one packet a day for my vitamin C and B vitamins.

As an elite triathlete, open water swimmer, and swimming instructor, I often get asked about goggles and swimming gear. Â There are a lot of goggles to choose from and people want to know which are the best and which last the longest. Â After, I have exhausted countless pairs of goggles over the years, I can certainly tell you which kind hold up the longest and are the most durable in competition. Â There is only one brand I stick with when it comes to swimming goggles and that is Zoggs. I have one pair I set aside for racing and another pair for training. Â They last years rather than months like the other brands I used to wear for training and racing. Â I am very happy with my Zoggs and I feel you will be too…what is even better is the price is RIGHT! Â Check below for best ZOGGS goggles, swim caps, and swim gloves!!
